Shared chunks behave as though SPACES_CHUNK_SHARED and SPACES_CHUNK_SERIALIZE were already included. Callers therefore need not pass those flags again. The size argument represents the total backing size of the shared-memory object. On UNIX, this size is fixed during creation and cannot be expanded later.
